Early Years Education-focused Inspections

Department of Education and Skills Inspectorate Survey

In April 2016, the Inspectorate of the Department of Education and Skills (DES) introduced Early Years Education-focused Inspections (EYEIs) in early years settings participating in the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Programme. The purpose of these education-focused inspections is to evaluate, advise and report on the quality of education provision in the services inspected, with a view to supporting improvement and development of the quality of that education provision.

In line with its commitment to review the operation of this inspection model after one year of its implementation, the DES Inspectorate would like to invite you to participate in this consultation. We are conducting this survey to gather views of early years practitioners, owners/managers of early years settings, parents and those with an interest in early years education more generally.
